Varg Vikernes guilty of hate crime

According to The Local, a French court announced the verdict of Norwegian musician Varg Vikernes, who is accused of blog postings that glorified war crimes and promoted discrimination against Muslims and Jews.

The court slapped musician to an €8,000 ($10,000) fine and six-month suspended prison sentence. During announcing the sentence Varg Vikernes and his lawyer were absent in court. By the way, the musician denies racist publications and insists that someone else did it. "At any given moment 350 people pretending to be Varg Vikernes on Facebook", "anybody can very easily put up a blog" — Varg said.

Reminding, that Varg Vikernes was arrested in France in July last year on suspicion of plotting terrorist attacks but was released after 48 hours due to lack of evidence. However, he was charged with inciting racism and defending of war crimes on his blog. During the search police also found racist and anti-Semitic materials on musician's computer.
